SSSSnake Saturday at the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center

This past Saturday, on Saint Patrick’s Day, Emily and I headed to the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center. They really have some great programs. It has been a few weeks since Taste of the Season, so we were happy for the chance to return.

See Emily’s hand grasping the snake’s tail? This kid has no fear of touching snakes. Neither did I for that matter, although when they are loose in my yard it’s a completely different story!

There were several snakes to touch and learn about…

In all different shapes and sizes…

Even one that was calm enough for Emily to hold all by herself!

There was an excellent descriptive poster to delineate between harmless and venomous snakes…

Although I doubt I will ever want to get close enough to double-check and see if the eyes are elliptical or round! And there was also a table display with a full snake skin and even a skeleton…

The legend of Saint Patrick driving all of the snakes from Ireland may be a myth…but the snakes on St. Patrick’s Day were alive and slithering!
