Mother’s Day…It Was Worth the Wait

This past Saturday we were up early and off to Lawrence for an urban garden tour. Our weekend was full – on Sunday we had a sausage-making class (a gift from my dear husband for Mother’s Day/birthday) and so we dropped off the little princess at my mother’s house to spend the night.

They had just checked the mail and discovered a late Mother’s Day gift sent to my mom. I smiled because I knew that probably meant that I too would have a present waiting for me when I returned home.

Sure enough, a package was waiting.

And let me tell you, it was worth the wait!

I got the tree lady! The original tree lady!

Someday my daughter will be famous. She will be a well-known and loved author and illustrator. And I will have this little gem to remind me of her earlier works.

I wish I could photograph it better, but the glass causes a reflection with the flash, and turning the flash off makes it slightly blurry. [sigh]

But that’s okay, because for me, it is perfect. Now I just need to find the perfect place for it – I’m thinking that somewhere around my desk will work.

I’m counting the days until I get to meet my future son-in-law and grandson in late July. I can’t wait!
