Help Me Understand This

Yesterday I received a screaming email (yes, I swear it screamed at me something about ‘Obama declaring war on homeschoolers’ in the subject field) stating that Obama was seeking to destroy homeschooling in America. The line that he uttered?

“So tonight, I am proposing that every state — every state — requires that all students stay in high school until they graduate or turn 18.”

What does that mean, anyway? At first I dismissed it – calling it a declaration of war on homeschooling is rather overdramatic. If he had mentioned our horns and deranged teachings or said that all homeschoolers are pedophiles or religious nutjobs, now that would war.

What does he consider ‘high school’?

What about those amazing and gifted teens who wish to attend college at an earlier age – what if a high school does not allow them to graduate early?

Does this mean I can only homeschool until Emily becomes a teenager if Obama has his way?

Where does homeschooling fall in Obama’s agenda?

I tried looking on his campaign website. Under ‘The Issues’ I found the Education section which was maddeningly sparse on details. Seriously folks, what does “President Obama has made education a national priority” really mean and how does it affect ME and MINE?

Inquiring minds want to know. Anyone who can provide clarification (or just your own two cents) on this…post in the comments or on the forum. I’d like to hear from you.
