Pens, Markers, Crayons! Organizing the Mess

It was the search for a dry erase marker that did it. Our crafting and writing supplies were an absolute mess. I couldn’t find anything! I turned to Emily and said, “We need to sort this all out. Will you help me?”

Before long we were sticking Post-Its on the floor and sorting, sorting, sorting.

I realized by this point that I could do something about our future homeschool room. I could get organized!

A couple of months ago, faced with moving over thirteen years worth of STUFF, I stopped recycling (just for the interim until we move) and stopped setting aside empty commercial jars and containers. But I still had plenty in the the closet. I found more than four empty plastic peanut butter jars!

I grabbed some scrapbooking paper, baskets, glue and other stuff that I had lying around and got to work. Here is what I came up with…

Clearly labeled, and with a fun mixture of patterns and colors.

I like the cheerfully mismatched mixture and I hope Emily will too.

We also took the opportunity to test all of the markers to make sure they were still good. I try to do this at least once a year. And we found the dry erase markers we needed. Now Emily can practice writing her letters again!

[whispers] Just two weeks and four days until we move!
